Yep I understood this whole train of thought. I find the few minutes here and there works too. Each time it happens another layer disappears. Once I realised that things would never be perfect then it became easier to just enjoy the process. Eventually there is a place for everything and if there isn't some of the stuff needs to be 'set free' Thanks so much for the laughs. it is exactly what I needed tonight.

Hey KellyinVT
A quick suggestion. Based on my hard won experience. Saying you're, "REALLY going to clean the whole house," is a recipe for failure.
At least it would be for me. Based on my house. And my office.
Yes, I could clean up my whole house and get everything tidied and sorted... if I had a year off, or I could stop time for six months.
Every time I promise I'm going to finally get a huge job done, it takes about 3 seconds for me to think, "Who am I kidding?"
I was kidding me.
I have ADHD.
Here's what I say now, "I'm going to spend 4 minutes tidying up this room before my show starts." Or "I might as well spend 3 minutes cleaning the junk from the car trunk while I'm waiting for the engine to warm up." Or, "I might as well tidy one desk drawer while my wife is preparing our dinner."
It's amazing what happens.
A week after I started this practice every part of the house and my life was a bit better. Not perfect, but it was noticable. After a month, I actually had some rooms under control.
Sometimes I forget and the mess starts to accumulate. But when I take this on, man it makes a difference.

Thank you... I'm sitting here in pain laughing.

This site is the sanest, best designed website on ADD I've seen. You've really designed a site that "works" for someone with ADD... THANK YOU for all you've done... and I've only had one day to check it out..

Of course, that has kind of put a wrench in my plan to use today to completely declutter and clean my house for the holidays. Which of course I would have totally been able to do.... except for stopping to make 8 loaves of bread, interspersed with watching all your videos... which I can do while I make bread. Except I have to turn off the mixer a lot so I can really hear. But now the bread is on the rise and I'm REALLY going to clean the whole house.

Well, it would probably be a lot more effective than a soapstone carving.

I was always sorry they changed the Nellies to the Geminis. The Gemini looks a lot classier from a design perspective, but there's more comic potential in a Nellie.

I remember seeing a photo of Barbara Hamilton (dressed in a pale pink unitard and a flowing wig) pretending to be a Nellie. I think she did that to open the ACTRAs in about 1981 or '82.

That Nellie is heavy! It's lead or something! I have three of them. I should pose them like the three Muses.
Wouldn't it be great to use them as a weapon? "Homeowner Knocks Out Burglar Using Golden Fat Naked Lady."
